Established in 2015, Mason Martial Arts Academy is proud to offer Smithfield's first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program. We are dedicated to the art of Jiu Jitsu, which was introduced to Brazil by Mitsuyo Maeda in the early 1900s and subsequently taught to the Gracie family. It is a method developed in Japan of defending oneself without the use of weapons. This martial art has since spread to the United States and around the world.

We are affiliated with Professor Andre Monteiro's A Force Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a teaching system rooted in Gracie Jiu Jitsu, emphasizing self-defense and the promotion of the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle. Jiu-Jitsu utilizes strength, weight, and constraining techniques, which include holds, joint locks, throws, and strikes to vital areas of the body. Our primary focus is on controlling and subduing opponents while ensuring that no permanent injury occurs.

New Old School Jiu Jitsu Fundamentals Class coming in April!
Interested in Jiu Jitsu?
It seems daunting, but it doesn't have to be! We will be offering a new fundamentals class that will run for 25 weeks (six months) to introduce what this classic Jiu Jitsu is all about. Be street smart and street ready in a fun and safe environment right here in Smithfield!
This Program
This will be separate from the standard Jiu Jitsu class schedule. If you decide you are interested in taking the standard program, but don't want to wait the 25 weeks, you are more than welcome to enroll in both Jiu Jitsu programs. If you are already taking our Karate classes, please see the front desk for a discounted pricing. you can definitely take both classes at the same time!
Classes Start April 7, 2025
This will be every Monday from 6-7pm. The cost is $75 per month for new students with a $50 enrollment fee, which includes a gi and belt. Feel free to stop by the dojo or give us a call to schedule and register today!
